For the last week reading, I suggest the attached article on the role of political science in public health. Gagnon, F., Bergeron, P., Clavier, C., Fafard, P., Martin, E., & Blouin, C. (2017). Why and How Political Science Can Contribute to Public Health? Proposals for Collaborative Research Avenues. Instructor Mosila Edited by Andreea Mosila on Feb 14 at 11am Why and How Political Science Can Contribute to Public Health-2.pdf Political Compass Results I concur with the results of the political compass tests are shown in a left-right line which indicates an economic left/right of -4.25 on one hand and social libertarian/authoritarian of -0.46 on the other. Notably, the results suggest my inclination toward social liberty as an essential aspect of societal ideology in contemporary times (Politicalcompass.org, 2019). In an attempt to explain the correlation between the economic line and social libertarianism, the compass justifies the position through postulates by ancient theorists such as Pol Pot, Tse Tung, and Stalin of the Soviet Union (Politicalcompass.org, 2019). Under these postulates, the radical nature of regulation of the market through the prevention of a free market economy is addressed to show the efficacy of the left line in the results. On another end, the right line contains socialist theories which include Mahatma Gandhi and Margaret Thatcher who believe in the creation of a free market economy with a minimum amount of restriction. Under the political compass results, this latter group of social theorist belongs to the right line thereby demonstrating the correlation between political ideology and economic perspectives within the society (Politicalcompass.org, 2019). Moreover, the evolution between the two concepts on the line scale demonstrates the extent to which views of influential individuals shape societal perception about crucial issues like religion, sex and the market in the economy. Therefore, the course of the political compass has been a useful tool in shaping my perspective on the operation of concepts in society. In particular, the role of politics and economics in influencing the daily lives of the members of society is a crucial point which I have obtained from the lesson (Gagnon, 2017). Therefore, I intend to adopt the theories suggested by libertarians and the authoritarians such as Stalin and Gandhi in my future assessment of economic or changing political situations within the society.
