• Writing Assignment must use 12point Times Font with double spacing and added space between paragraphs.

• Writing Assignment must be saved as a WORD document and submitted through the course in D2L by the due date and time. No Assignments accepted by email.

• Spelling/Grammar & Punctuation Count.
(Remember this is a writing credit course)

• The best advice for the Writing Assignment is to research the Artwork and Artist shown below and have a good understanding of the Artwork & Artist and a good understanding of the meaning of the Glossary Terms listed in the instructions before you begin the writing assignment.

• All Writing Assignment Submissions must be written in your own words. Do not use any ‘Quotations’ from another source and do not copy text from another source and change the words because the Turnitin Similarity Scoring System will pick it up as copying. Turnitin Similarity % score should be 0%.

At the top of the paper:

• Your name
• Museum Assignment
• Name of the Artist
• Title of artwork
• Date of Artwork
• Medium or Media of artwork

Paragraph 1: Subject Matter (5 points)

Subject Matter: what is depicted.

Write a 5-sentence paragraph describing the Subject Matter of the artwork you chose in Part 1. Must include 5 complete sentences written in paragraph form.

• Describe what is depicted in the artwork with details.

• Be very specific and cover the whole work.

• Be very descriptive.

• Describe the subject matter as if the person reading cannot see the artwork.

Paragraph 2: Content (5 points)

Content: meaning in art.

Write a 5-sentence paragraph describing the Content of the artwork you chose in Part 1. Must include 5 complete sentences written in paragraph form.

• Describe what the work means (do not guess / research)

• What is the artist trying to say? (do not guess / research)

• Why did the artist make the artwork? (do not guess / research)

Paragraph 3: Individual Style (5 points)

Individual Style: of one specific and distinct artist.

Write a 5-sentence paragraph describing the Individual Style of the artist / artwork you chose in Part 1. Must include 5 complete sentences written in paragraph form.

• Describe the distinct characteristics of the artist individual style of his/her artwork (do not guess / research)

• What makes the artist artwork different from other artworks in the same style or the same time period (do not guess / research)

Paragraph 4: Period Style (5 points)

Period Style: artistic group style (example: Baroque)

Write a 5-sentence paragraph describing the Period Style of the artwork you chose in Part 1. Must include 5 complete sentences written in paragraph form.

• Have a clear understanding of the term Period Style.

• Describe the artist group style of the artwork shown (do not guess / research).

Paragraph 5: Medium (5 points)

Medium (media is plural): material or materials and technique or techniques to make art.

Write a 5-sentence paragraph describing the Medium or Media and technique or techniques used in the artwork you chose in Part 1. Must include 5 complete sentences written in paragraph form.

• Indicate the medium or media used in the artwork (do not guess / research)

• Discuss the technique or techniques used to create the work (do not guess / research)
